In 2025, we implemented emergency humanitarian assistance responses to support earthquake-affected communities in Innlay region and Pinlaung Township, Southern Shan State. The Mw 7.7 earthquake centered near the Sagaing-Fault close to Mandalay and follow-up quakes caused significant damage to homes and livelihoods, leaving many families in urgent need of food, shelter, and essential supplies.
With generous support from international organizations and other local and international individual donors, we have provided rice, cooking oil, and emergency food supplies to affected households to address immediate food insecurity. Multipurpose Cash Assistance was delivered to a total of 362 families with low income, elderly, women-headed, people with disabilities, and about 31 households to reconstruct and repair their homes. We also distributed hygiene kits, including soap, detergent powder, and toothpaste, to help maintain safe and healthy living conditions.
In total, approximately 988 households and 2193 individuals (Male – 1318, Female – 2193) benefited from this emergency intervention. We remain committed to supporting vulnerable communities.
